HIMALAYAN College of Nursing
Himalayan College of Nursing (HCN), a premier college of nursing, aims to achieve excellence in nursing education, practice, and research that meets national and international standards. The programs run by HCN are designed to keep pace with the ever-changing healthcare industry & its environment, where healthcare is envisioned as an integrated three-dimensional model – education, research, and service.
Courses being conducted at our nursing college in Dehradun, Uttarakhand prepares students to become nurses that are expert clinicians at the bedside. Students are also introduced to initial preparations in nursing education and administration. Our focus remains on preparing the students to assume leadership roles in nursing clinical practice, administration, teaching, and research.
The college offers diverse resources for the mind, body & soul and enough flexibility for nursing students to explore in their own distinctive way. Soft skill development comprises of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in a social environment. Besides, students are provided with ample opportunities to exhibit their talents in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. In addition, team spirit, leadership quality, time management, and decision-making skills are given focused attention for the overall personality development of students.
Whether it be B. Sc. Nursing students or any other nursing course students of HCN, the placements offered in associated Himalayan Hospital, are subject to vacancies. Besides, the students passing out of these programs are eligible to serve in various organizations viz. colleges, hospitals (domestic & overseas), defense services, & institutes. Past students recruited by government health sectors are working both in India & abroad.

Students receive knowledge and skills through lessons in laboratories, guest lectures from industry experts, tutorials, visits to companies, workshops, seminars, inter-disciplinary programs &projects, small group activities and individual discussions, selectively utilizing multimedia and digital platforms.
Students also get extensive exposure in a range of nursing fields, including specialist labs, conferences, seminars, special workshops, research-based projects,and assignments/field projects

- Assist critically ill patients and their families with safe, quality, and cost-effective nursing care
- Act fast, even under pressure and deliver nursing care to patients in the acute settings including work in intensive care units (ICUs).
SRHU provided us an environment full of opportunities to learn and grow. The guided effort and vast knowledge of the experienced teachers made me shine and help grow in various directions. At the end of my journey at SRHU, I became more adventurous and excited towards my career and life and am happy to have been a part of it.
Finding the right path to success at the right time is really very important and for that I selected SRHU. Having graduated now, I realize SRHU is much beyond just an “Institution”. It actually denotes a “Culture”- Culture of excellence, empowerment and enrichment. It molded my personality and clarified my vision for the future. The University has successfully accomplished its promises and objectives in providing quality education and overall development.
The college and specially the teachers have successfully instilled in us a sense of responsibility, curiosity and ignited the fire to go beyond our mental limitations. I am very happy with where I am today and the seeds of success were planted at HCN, SRHU and I am extremely grateful for that. It’s the dedicated effort of the faculty that makes me consider myself a good professional. I am sure the upcoming batches of HCN will continue the rich legacy and strive and make us all proud.
I feel really proud to be a student of SRHU. The past 5 years in this institution have been a memorable experience for me. The classrooms, libraries and laboratories are well-equipped. Faculty is experienced and future-oriented. They helped me develop a healthy attitude towards my studies and career. I am sincerely thankful to the Institute and all the faculty members.
SRHU has provided me with some of the loveliest memories which I feel I will always cherish. The University provides a welcoming atmosphere to the students where they feel free to communicate with instructors and get their problems sorted with ease. During the pandemic, the entire faculty didn’t let our academic performance suffer. They assisted the pupils who lost their parents during the pandemic and pushed them to continue their study. Being a part of SRHU has brought me a great deal of academic learning and turned me into a better human being.
At SRHU my journey was filled with professional learning and personal growth. As I undertook the Masters program I got the opportunity to grow as a leader and acquire skills to tackle different kinds of challenges every day in critical care setting. I have also enjoyed and appreciated the University’s vision and culture, where everyone works with a focused goal-oriented approach.
