Eligibility & Competence

Eligibility

  • The Award is open to all persons, associations, institutions or organizations regardless of gender, nationality, race or creed.
  • To come under consideration for the Award, it would ordinarily be necessary that an individual, association, institution or organization shall be recommended, in writing, by someone with the competence as defined hereafter.
  • Personal applications for the Award shall not be considered.
  • In order to be eligible for consideration of the Award, selfless & significant contribution on the subject should have been recognized & published.
  • Only recent work achieved within ten years immediately preceding the proposal/nomination shall be considered for the Award.

Competence to make a Proposal, Nominate & Recommend

  • The Secretariat situated at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Swami Ram Nagar, Jolly Grant, Dehradun, Uttarakhand shall invite proposals/nominations for Swami Rama Humanitarian Award in the first week of April every year.
  • Competence to make a proposal, nominate & recommend for the Award shall be enjoyed by :
  • Former members of the Jury;
  • Persons who have received the Swami Rama Humanitarian Award in the past;
  • Ministers of Central Government;
  • Governors / Chief Ministers of the States / UT Administration;
  • Members of Parliament of India;
  • Nobel Laureates;
  • The Secretary - General of United Nations and other leaders in international organizations or institutions whose objectives are focused on outstanding services in the field of Economics, Environment, Science & Technology, Societal Issues and Spirituality having Global Impact;
  • Chancellors/Vice Chancellors of the Universities;
  • Heads of Indian Missions abroad for bringing it to the notice of and for consulting major relevant institutions and experts of the country concerned;
  • Heads of institutions relating to studies and research in the concerned field;
  • Presiding Officers of both Houses of Parliament / State Assemblies / Councils;
  • All the Heads of the Himalayan Institute all over the world; and
  • Any other individual, association, institution or organization whom the Jury may wish to make proposals/nominations for the Award.

Proposals/nominations to be considered should be accompanied by a detailed write-up.
