Convocation - THE moment of transition from being a student to a new Graduate, backed by all the hard work, a time of celebration, of achievement and of a new beginning. It is truly an occasion full of joy and excitement to witness the students, all dressed in convocation outfit, receive the degree.
At SRHU, we endeavor to make this occasion momentous for our students. Our University’s 1st Convocation in April 2016 was a historic moment with the President of India, gracing the occasion. In his address, His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee, advised the students not to be anxious about their future but learn to live in the present. He added that it is the creativity of the students that can usher in change. He further, urged them to proceed in the journey of life with an attitude to learn and an aptitude to think new.
2nd Annual Convocation held on 5th December 2017 was again illustrious with The Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu being the Chief Guest. Dr. Krishan Kant. Paul, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand presided over the convocation as the Visitor. Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, was the Special Guest of Honour. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Minister of State, Higher Education, Uttarakhand, was the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were other dignitaries from the academic world, industries and the government apart from University’s Vice-Chancellor, Board of Governors, Board of Management and Academic Council.
University conferred degrees to 802 students and scholars. A total of 3 Ph.D., 275 Post Graduate and 524 Graduate degrees were awarded. 319 students were awarded degrees in person and 483 in absentia.
The Convocation began with a majestic and grand academic procession lead by the Registrar followed by the National Anthem. After the lighting of the lamp, the Convocation was formally declared open by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana. This was followed by the Kulgeet sung by the students of the University. The present dignitaries were felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana and Advisor Academics, Dr. Vijendra Chauhan.
Dr. Vijay Dhasmana welcomed the dignitaries, the governing bodies of the University, guests, students and the parents. He then announced conferment of degrees. A scintillating medals and awards ceremony was also part of the Convocation wherein five students of Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences and One student of Himalayan College of Nursing were honoured by the Hon’ble Vice-President of India.
Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of State, Higher Education, Uttarakhand announced that the Government will soon open centres to provide free IAS coaching wherein students will be selected through a talent search and also be provided funding support on their area of research.
Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Minister of the State, emphasized the importance of education being available to all. He acknowledged the contribution made by the Founder H.H. Dr. Swami Rama and the University.
Dr. Paul, Governor of Uttarakhand, congratulated the students on the historic day. He stressed the importance of convocation in the life of a student and the responsibility new graduates carry in building the future of the nation. He also talked about the rural development and accessibility to education in the state. He congratulated the University in taking steps for skill development that will help the youth in their financial sustainability.
Shri. Venkaiah Naidu, The Vice President of India, enthralled the students and the audience alike with an inspiring speech. Shri. Venkaiah Naidu shared the importance and role mother tongue plays in the primary education.
