Teaching & Training of Himalayan College of Nursing are student-centric pedagogy that stimulates learning and deep understanding of the subject. Our academic activities are recognized as progressive and clinically relevant with a focus on practical learning, innovation, skill development, and exposure to the latest advancements in Nursing. Students receive knowledge and skills through lessons in laboratories, guest lectures from industry experts, tutorials, visits to companies, workshops, seminars, inter-disciplinary programs & projects, small group activities and individual discussions, selectively utilizing multimedia and digital platforms. Students also get extensive exposure in a range of nursing fields, including specialist labs, conferences, seminars, special workshops, research-based projects, and assignments/field projects.
Research
Himalayan College of Nursing is deeply committed to advancing nursing practice and public health through a strong focus on research and development. The institution emphasizes studies in crucial areas such as non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, geriatric care, nutrition, mental health, and critical care, along with innovative approaches like simulation training in nursing education. Ongoing doctoral research spans diverse themes, including interventions for schizophrenia caregivers, asthma management in children, quality of life in leukemic patients, dialysis care, maternal and neonatal outcomes, stroke rehabilitation, coronary artery disease, breast cancer care, and elderly well-being. With a legacy of more than 25 years, the Himalayan College of Nursing has earned national recognition for excellence in nursing education and research. The college actively nurtures global academic collaborations to provide its students and faculty with international exposure and learning opportunities. Through its MoU with the University of Tsukuba, Japan, initiatives such as faculty visits, student exchange, and collaborative academic activities have been fostered, including a 90-day academic exposure program for M.Sc. Nursing student Ms. Deeksha Pokhriyal in 2025. Similarly, the partnership with the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (USA) offers enriching cultural and academic exchange programs, where students engage in community-based health initiatives, chronic disease education, and holistic wellness sessions under the “Science of Joyful Living” program.
