Overview
Biotechnology Degree Programme named as B.Sc. Biotechnology (three full academic years), B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology (four full academic years) and B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology with Research (four full academic years). The duration of this programme shall be of three years/four years (three/four full academic years) which shall be divided into six semesters/eight semesters. The B.Sc. Biotechnology programme, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, is a multidisciplinary undergraduate course designed to integrate biological sciences with modern biotechnological applications. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology, and bioinformatics, while promoting experiential and outcome-based learning. Emphasis is laid on hands-on laboratory training, research exposure, and skill development, ensuring that students gain both conceptual clarity and practical competence.
In accordance with NEP-2020, the programme offers flexibility through multiple entry and exit options, encourages interdisciplinary learning, internships, and project-based education, and fosters ethical values, sustainability, and innovation. The course prepares students for employability, entrepreneurship, higher education, and research careers, enabling them to contribute effectively to biotechnology, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and allied sectors in a rapidly evolving global knowledge economy.
