The Department of Adult Health Nursing at Himalayan College of Nursing, SRHU, organized a guest lecture on Analyzing Real-Life Stroke Cases to Identify Best Practices, Challenges, and Areas for Improvement for B.Sc. Held under the vision of Dr. Sanchita Pugazhendi, Principal, and guided by Dr. Kamli Prakash, Vice Principal and HOD, the session was aimed at enriching students’ academic foundation with clinical relevance and expert perspective.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinay Kumari, Vice Principal at MM College of Nursing, Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana, Ambala. With an in-depth approach, Dr. Kumari introduced the students to the clinical framework surrounding stroke, including its types, causes, risk factors, diagnostic approaches, and the evolving standards of care. By analyzing real-life stroke cases, she highlighted critical aspects such as timely recognition, coordinated acute response, multidisciplinary care, and challenges commonly encountered in both acute and rehabilitative settings.
The session moved beyond textbook theory by presenting practical scenarios and best practices drawn from real clinical cases. Students were encouraged to think critically about decision-making in stroke care, patient communication, and long-term rehabilitation strategies. The lecture also addressed gaps in existing systems and proposed potential improvements, thus fostering a problem-solving mindset among students.
Coordinated by Ms. Preeti Prabha, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Anshika Bhatt, Nursing Tutor, the session witnessed the active participation of 143 students. The engaging and informative nature of the lecture enabled students to better understand the complexities of stroke care across the patient journey—from early symptoms to recovery.
The session significantly contributed to the students’ professional development by enhancing their clinical awareness and readiness to respond to stroke cases with confidence and competence.
