The M.Sc. Program in Epidemiology offered by HIMS prepares the students with specialized knowledge and conceptual, methodological, and bio-statistical skills needed to engage in epidemiological research. It provides a solid base in epidemiological methods, an understanding of community health, and opportunities for applied experiential learning in epidemiologic practice, research & policy. With the MSc. in Epidemiology program, you will be able to:
- Exhibit in-depth understanding and awareness of epidemiology's function and contribution to other health-related disciplines.
- Analyze how political, social, cultural, vocational, and environmental issues and systems affect health and medical treatment.
- Use descriptive and inferential approaches to analyze data from health information systems and epidemiological research, and then interpret the findings.
- Understand and apply statistical methods and epidemiological concepts to analyze the causes of diseases and the current state of the most pressing health issues.
- Examine situations that may have a negative impact on public health, such as environmental dangers and disease outbreaks, and develop a suitable plan to combat them.
- Engage in effective oral, written, and graphical communication.
- Effectively contribute as an individual or team member in Research & Development.

The program also provides students an exposure to various departments of hospital and are guided, mentored & trained by highly experienced faculty to sharpen their expertise. On successful completion of the course, students are capable of dealing with project planning, finance, marketing and operations that are relevant to the healthcare industry.
The program curriculum includes healthcare finance and accounting, healthcare marketing, information technology, operation management, leadership and organizational behaviour, human resource management, quality improvement and patient safety etc. To enhance competencies and provide direct exposure to work with healthcare organizations the students go through internships, guest lectures, group projects, industrial visits etc.
