The Himalayan School of Science & Technology organized a three-day workshop on Hybrid Mobile App Development using Flutter and React Native from 3rd to 5th April 2025. With the participation of 71 students, the workshop delivered an immersive, practice-driven learning experience focused on contemporary mobile application development techniques. It aimed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application by enabling students to build cross-platform apps that function seamlessly on both Android and iOS devices.
The workshop opened with a comprehensive overview of hybrid frameworks and the advantages of using Flutter and React Native for developing modern mobile apps. Participants were introduced to foundational concepts in UI/UX design, widget structuring, and navigation systems. Under the mentorship of experienced facilitators, attendees worked on hands-on coding tasks and mini-projects that emphasized responsiveness, performance tuning, and clean code architecture. The collaborative learning environment encouraged active participation and real-time problem-solving, which significantly boosted the confidence and technical skills of the learners.
Led by Dr. Gaurav Sharma and Dr. Gunjan Chabbra from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, the workshop seamlessly blended theoretical insights with practical implementation. One of the major highlights was the mentor-guided walkthroughs of real-world app development challenges, helping students internalize best practices in mobile programming. The sessions also covered integration techniques, API handling, and app deployment essentials, giving a rounded perspective on end-to-end development.
By the end of the workshop, participants had not only strengthened their foundation in hybrid mobile app development but also unlocked their creative potential to design user-centric digital solutions. The event marked a pivotal learning milestone, equipping attendees with future-ready skills to pursue academic and professional ventures in the mobile tech ecosystem.
