Himalayan School of Management Studies Organizes Workshop on Case Teaching and Writing

Himalayan School of Management Studies, SRHU successfully organized a two-day workshop on “Art of Case Teaching and Writing” on 24–25 July 2024. Held at the Communication Lab of HSST, the workshop aimed to enhance pedagogical innovation among faculty members by introducing them to the structured methodology of case-based teaching and writing. The event witnessed the participation of 18 faculty members from HSMS, HIMS, and HSPS, creating a collaborative and interdisciplinary learning environment.

The workshop was convened and conducted by Dr. Gargi Pant Shukla, Assistant Professor, HSMS, who is known for her expertise in case-based pedagogy. The event began with a motivational address by Professor Mohit Verma, Principal, HSMS, who highlighted the increasing relevance of case studies in management education. He emphasized that the adoption of the case method not only makes classroom teaching more dynamic but also fosters critical thinking and analytical skills among students.

Throughout the workshop, Dr. Gargi Pant Shukla guided participants through a range of interactive sessions, combining theory with practical application. The sessions focused on core areas such as the fundamentals of case writing, research methods for case development, writing effective teaching notes, and strategies for leading engaging classroom discussions. Each session included group activities and real-world examples to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the subject.

The workshop also addressed key challenges faced by educators in implementing case-based teaching, offering pragmatic solutions and frameworks. Participants showed great enthusiasm, actively engaging in discussions and sharing their perspectives. The workshop created a platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue, promoting a spirit of collaboration among faculty from different schools within the university.

The outcome of the workshop was tangible, with participants expressing increased confidence in integrating case-based methods into their teaching. Many also reported an improved understanding of the structure and development of impactful case studies. The workshop received highly positive feedback, with several participants expressing interest in future training modules focused on advanced case writing and pedagogy.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Ekta Rao, who acknowledged the efforts of the convener and praised the commitment of the participating faculty. The workshop marked a meaningful step forward in enriching the academic culture at SRHU through innovative teaching practices.
