HSMS Hosts Workshop on Curriculum Design and Development

On April 15, 2025, the Himalayan School of Management Studies (HSMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a focused faculty development workshop on “Curriculum Design & Development” at the B.C. Roy Auditorium. This enriching academic initiative was designed for HSMS faculty, aiming to strengthen their capabilities in building future-ready curricula. The workshop brought together 16 faculty members and featured two distinguished speakers: Prof. (Dr.) Taruna Gautam, Vice Chancellor and Professor of Economics at IILM University, Greater Noida, and Mr. A.P. Parigi, Member, Board of Directors at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. and co-founder of Radio Mirchi.

The session opened with an overview of the pressing need to align curriculum structures with contemporary academic standards and industry requirements. Prof. Gautam’s talk focused on key educational frameworks such as outcome-based education, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and curriculum mapping. She emphasized how structured learning outcomes could be used to drive better teaching practices and student engagement. Her session also encouraged reflective thinking among faculty members about how curriculum design directly influences learner success.

Mr. A.P. Parigi brought a dynamic industry perspective to the workshop. Drawing from his leadership experience in media and education, he shared innovative strategies to integrate real-world exposure into academic delivery. He stressed the importance of experiential learning, industry immersion, and interdisciplinary project work as tools for building employability and relevance in modern education. His anecdotes and case-based discussions made the session engaging, particularly for faculty seeking to balance academic rigor with industry adaptability.

The workshop was marked by lively group activities, collaborative discussions, and hands-on exercises that allowed faculty to reimagine their course plans through the lens of learning outcomes and practical application. It created a valuable space for dialogue on curriculum reform and pedagogical innovation. Participants left with a stronger grasp of curriculum design methodologies and practical strategies to elevate academic quality at HSMS.

This initiative reflects HSMS’s commitment to continuous academic enhancement and faculty development, laying a thoughtful foundation for transforming learning into a more impactful and industry-aligned experience.
