The Department of Clinical Research at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), a constituent of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully concluded its five-week intensive training program titled “Ensuring Integrity of Healthcare: Good Clinical Practice and Medical Ethics,” along with a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Healthcare Research and Biostatistics, on 26 February 2026 at the BC Roy Auditorium. Organized under the leadership of Dr. Nikku Yadav and her dedicated team, the program aimed to strengthen ethical awareness, methodological rigor, and statistical competency in healthcare research.
The valedictory ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp lighting and Guru Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Piyush Agarwal, Head – Clinical Development at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Guest of Honour Dr. Vijender Chauhan, Director General (Academic Development), SRHU. Dr. Ahmadulla Shariff, Dean, HIMS, delivered the welcome address and emphasized the critical role of Good Clinical Practice, medical ethics, regulatory compliance, and robust research methodology in advancing evidence-based healthcare.
He highlighted that adherence to GCP principles ensures participant safety, data credibility, and ethical research conduct. Distinguished expert Dr. R. J. Yadav, Former Director Grade Scientist ‘G’, NIMS–ICMR, underscored the importance of high-quality data and appropriate statistical application in clinical research and project evaluation. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vijender Chauhan reaffirmed SRHU’s commitment to promoting research that is scientifically sound, ethically responsible, and aligned with global standards of clinical practice. In his keynote address, Dr. Piyush Agarwal provided valuable insights into clinical development processes, industry expectations, and the significance of well-designed studies and accurate data interpretation in safeguarding patient welfare. The program, supported by the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, comprised 137 hours of structured training covering Good Clinical Practice, research ethics, regulatory frameworks, study design, and hands-on sessions using advanced research and statistical software. Sessions were conducted by distinguished experts from academia and industry, ensuring a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure.
The initiative also witnessed the presence of representatives from leading organizations such as Bharat Biotech, AstraZeneca, and Clinical Research Network India, strengthening the industry–academia interface. Certificates were distributed to participants, and 30 resource persons were recognized for their significant contributions through lectures, mentoring, and practical training. The ceremony was attended by several university dignitaries, reflecting institutional support for advancing research excellence. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem, group photograph, and brunch, marking the successful culmination of an intensive academic initiative dedicated to fostering ethical integrity, scientific competence, and innovation in healthcare research.
