Integrated Skill Development Program Empowering Rural Youth
On May 24, 2025, Swami Rama Himalayan University organized a certificate distribution ceremony under its Integrated Skill Development Program. Certificates were awarded to students who completed training in Electrician and Plumbing, as well as Office Assistant and Computer Operator courses.
The chief guest of the event, Dr. Preeti Kothiyal, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SRHU, congratulated the students and emphasized that in today’s era, skills are just as important as education. Over the past two decades, most employers have been giving more weight to skills than just formal education. Moreover, the types of skills, their methods, and modes of delivery are constantly evolving. Hence, it is important to stay alert and continue learning, unlearning, and relearning. Otherwise, one risks falling behind in this competitive world. Addressing the students, she added that it is up to them to decide whether they want to keep their enterprise small or scale it up—no business is too small or too big.
On this occasion, Dr. Rajeev Bijalwan, Deputy Director, Rural Development Institute shared that over the past year 123 students have received training through three separate sessions. This training is being provided free of cost by the institute, and scholarships are also offered to economically weaker students to cover their travel expenses. Congratulating both newly admitted and graduating students, he encouraged them to now turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods.
The certificate distribution ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Nitesh Kaushik, Deputy Director. He expressed gratitude to the chief guest and all participants for making the event a success. The program was hosted by Ms. Neelam Pandey, Manager. Principals from the School of Science and School of Management, as well as representatives from RDI, Watson, and other departments, were also present at the event.
