The School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University, in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay, successfully organized a Two-Week National Level Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Data Analysis and Visualization with R Programming” from 16th to 30th September 2025. The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Kumar, Dean, SST, with an execution briefing by Ms. Ankita, Training Manager, Spoken Tutorial. Over the course of 15 days, the program systematically guided participants from foundational concepts to advanced applications in R. The initial sessions introduced installation of R and RStudio, basic commands, arithmetic operations, vectors, and simple plotting. This was followed by training on data frames, CSV handling, script creation, indexing, slicing, matrix operations, and data import. Participants further explored R objects, data types, factors, lists, and visualization techniques, including histograms, pie charts, bar charts, scatter plots, correlation analysis, and advanced graphics using ggplot2. Sessions on data manipulation with the dplyr package, integration with ggplot2, and the use of pipe operators enhanced practical skills in handling complex datasets. The FDP concluded with modules on conditional statements, if-else functions, and user-defined functions, enabling participants to develop customized workflows. With its structured progression and emphasis on practical applications, the FDP equipped faculty members with comprehensive expertise in R programming for effective integration into teaching and research practices.
