On 6th December 2024, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Himalayan School of Science and Technology (HSST), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a one-day workshop titled “Cloud Computing and Its Applications.” The workshop was conducted by Mr. Faby Mathew, a Senior Trainer at Excain LLP, Dehradun, and was attended by 30 students. The initiative aimed to offer hands-on experience and practical insights into leading cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
The workshop commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and a welcome address by Dr. Pramod Kumar, Principal of HSST. In his address, he highlighted the university’s emphasis on bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations. The event was meticulously designed to immerse students in real-world cloud infrastructure through guided sessions, practical tasks, and expert-led demonstrations.
Held at Lab 6, HSST, the workshop featured intensive hands-on sessions where students engaged in tasks such as virtual machine setup, managing cloud storage, and deploying applications on various platforms. The sessions were complemented by real-time troubleshooting and interactive Q&A segments, allowing participants to gain clarity on technical challenges and strengthen their understanding of cloud environments.
Coordinated by Dr. Gaurav Sharma and Ms. Shefali Khatri, the workshop provided students with vital exposure to the evolving landscape of serverless computing, edge technology, and AI-cloud integration. The participants walked away with improved technical competence, greater confidence in cloud-based development, and a deeper appreciation for the skills required in today’s cloud-driven industries. This workshop not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also nurtured the participants’ readiness for future roles in a rapidly changing technological world.
