On 9th April 2025, the Himalayan School of Science and Technology (HSST) successfully conducted a seminar titled “Fundamentals of AI and Its Future” for B.Tech second-semester students. The session was led by Dr. Gunjan Chhabra from the Department of Computer Science & Technology, HSST. Designed especially for beginners, the seminar offered a comprehensive introduction to the core concepts of Artificial Intelligence. It incorporated real-world case studies to help students understand the practical applications of AI across diverse domains.
A significant portion of the discussion focused on the ethical and societal implications of AI, encouraging students to critically evaluate the responsible use of these technologies. The seminar highlighted the potential challenges and risks associated with AI, often referred to as the “dark side,” prompting students to consider the broader impact of AI on society. Participants actively engaged by sharing innovative project ideas and participating in meaningful discussions throughout the session.
Dr. Chhabra also provided students with open-source resources to facilitate continued learning and exploration of the AI domain beyond the seminar. The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the session’s success in building a solid foundation for students eager to explore AI further.
The objectives of the seminar included familiarizing students with AI’s foundational principles, exploring its real-world applications, addressing ethical considerations, and developing a critical understanding of AI’s evolving role in society.
With 26 participants, the seminar proved to be an enriching experience, enhancing students’ awareness, curiosity, and readiness to pursue further studies and projects related to Artificial Intelligence. It marked a strong start in their journey into one of today’s most transformative technological fields.
