Upholding Integrity: Orientation Session on Examination Code of Conduct at SST

As part of the Dikshaarambh Orientation Program 2025, the School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a dedicated session on the Code of Conduct: Focusing on Examination System on 19th August 2025 at the SST Auditorium. The session was conducted by Dr. Vivek Katiyar, Examination Coordinator, SST, and attended by all newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The session aimed to familiarize students with examination rules, regulations, and conduct protocols to ensure fairness, transparency, and academic integrity. Dr. Katiyar explained in detail the examination structure for both theory and practical courses, highlighting the weightage of assessments, eligibility criteria, and marking systems.

Students were informed that for theory courses, internal assessments contribute 30% of the final grade, which includes Sessional Exam I, Sessional Exam II, and day-to-day assessment. The remaining 70% is based on the End Semester Examination, conducted externally for 100 marks. In practical exams, evaluations consider performance, record maintenance, and viva voce. Minimum eligibility was emphasized—40% in internal assessment for UG students and 50% for PG students, along with compulsory attendance and participation in at least one sessional exam. Dr. Katiyar also explained the coding instructions such as “SA” (shortage of attendance) and “AB” (absent but eligible).

In addition, the Student Code of Conduct during examinations was outlined. Students were reminded of the DOs—timely arrival, formal dress, carrying ID cards, following seating plans, and proper use of answer scripts. The DON’Ts included carrying chit papers or gadgets, talking, leaving early, or violating exam protocols.

The session concluded with students gaining clarity, discipline, and responsibility towards examinations, reinforcing SST’s commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent, and credible academic environment.
