The School of Science and Technology (SST) organized an insightful Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for first-year Junior Residents on 12th May 2025 at the Adi Kailash Auditorium, Swami Rama Himalayan University. The session was conducted by Dr. Anupama Mishra, Dr. Gaurav Sharma, and Dr. Gunjan Chhabra from the Department of Computer Science & Technology, SST. The workshop aimed to introduce AI as a practical and transformative tool in the healthcare sector, especially through hands-on demonstrations using two key platforms: Orange and Teachable Machine.
Orange, an open-source data visualization and machine learning tool, was used to demonstrate how real medical datasets can be uploaded, visualized, and analyzed to extract meaningful insights. This helped participants understand the role of data mining and predictive analytics in medical decision-making. Teachable Machine, developed by Google, was used to illustrate how AI models can be trained using images and body poses, thus introducing the attendees to AI’s capabilities in visual diagnostics.
The workshop was well-attended by key academic and administrative figures, including Prof. (Dr) A.K. Deorari (Pro-Vice Chancellor, SRHU), Lt. Gen. Dr. Daljit Singh (Dean cum Principal – HIMS), Dr. Pramod Kumar (Dean – SST), and Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt (Associate Professor – SST). Their presence underscored the importance of interdisciplinary education and technology integration in modern medical training.
Overall, the workshop proved to be highly enriching, offering participants not only a foundational understanding of AI concepts but also a firsthand experience of how these tools can be applied to real-world healthcare challenges. The session fostered curiosity, technical awareness, and enthusiasm among residents, encouraging them to explore AI as a vital component of their future clinical and research endeavors.
