Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development on November 10, 2025, at the Adi Kailash Auditorium with great enthusiasm. The event highlighted the role of science in fostering peace, progress, and sustainable development under the 2025 theme: *“Trust, Transformation and Tomorrow: The Science We Need for 2050.”* The session began with Guruvandana and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge.
Dr. Bindu Dey, Director Research, addressed the gathering by emphasizing the global relevance of World Science Day. She highlighted how major scientific discoveries—from the establishment of the Nobel Prize to the discovery of DNA’s double helix, the impact of GM crops, and technologies developed during COVID-19—shaped public discourse and strengthened the relationship between science, scientists, and society. Dr. Vijendra Chauhan, Director General, Academic Development, reflected on the synergy between science and spirituality, drawing inspiration from Swami Rama’s philosophy. He spoke about SRHU’s transformation into a leading institution for healthcare, education, and research, underscoring the importance of integrating spiritual values with scientific pursuit to create a holistic learning environment.Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal shared an inspiring anecdote involving J. R. D. Tata and Swami Vivekananda, which led to the establishment of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He encouraged students to carry forward this legacy by contributing to a research-driven and innovative India. Guest speaker Dr. S. P. Dobhal, Director, ITM DRDO Mussoorie, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the connection between science, leadership, and national security. He explained modern strategic frameworks like VUCA and BANI and highlighted Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s IGMDP as an example of visionary leadership that laid the foundation for India’s technological progress. His address motivated students to approach science with integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to national development. The celebration reaffirmed SRHU’s dedication to fostering scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and leadership among its students. The university aims to conduct more workshops, research conclaves, and innovation-based projects to strengthen the link between science, technology, and societal development. By nurturing young minds with scientific awareness and ethical values, SRHU strives to contribute to a peaceful, progressive, and innovation-driven future.
