ACIC Swami Rama Himalayan University Innovation and Incubation Centre (ACIC-SIIC) is designed to support and foster the development of innovative startups founded by students, faculty, and external entrepreneurs who have business ideas to scale up grassroots innovations. The incubator provides a comprehensive mix of resources for emerging entrepreneurs, including mentorship, access to funding, coworking space, and networking opportunities. It aims to nurture innovative ideas of students and early-stage founders by offering guidance on business development, technology commercialisation, IPR, product development, and market strategy. ACIC-SIIC also facilitates collaboration of startups with industry experts, connects startups with potential investors, and helps refine business models to ensure sustainable growth and success.

Programs

Pre-incubation

The Pre-Incubation Program at ACIC-SIIC is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their innovative ideas into viable startup concepts. Through a structured approach that includes mentorship, hands-on workshops, and early-stage validation, the potential incubatees gain the guidance required to shape their business ideas into reality. The program covers the basics of entrepreneurship and engagement in design thinking, market research, and prototype development, and offers access to co-working space and expert networks. Ideal for students, faculty, and external entrepreneurs, the program helps lay a strong foundation for future ventures. Participants in the pre-incubation program are expected to get ready to start the company within one year, and to move confidently toward incubation, funding, or market launch after this program.

Co-founder, Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd
Dr. Amjad Husain

Dr Amjad Husain is Professor at Cancer Care Research Centre (CCRC) and co-founder of Canfinis Therapeutics (a company started by Harvard fellows and faculty). He graduated with a Master’s in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee, and a PhD from ICGEB Delhi (JNU), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where two of his drug molecules moved to clinical trials in the USA. Dr Amjad has also completed his executive management program at Harvard Business School. With his mentor, he developed high-throughput drug screening technology, which was commercialised and acquired by a major pharmaceutical company in the USA After moving back to India, he has worked in leadership positions in the biotech industry, including as Senior Vice President R&D and Business Development at Avesthagen, GM R&D / Senior Director at Biocon, and Group Leader Precision Medicine Oncology at Cellworks. He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of IICE at IISER Bhopal and also as a Principal Scientist at IISER Bhopal. He has contributed to multiple biotech and therapeutic products in the market or in various stages of trials. He has published 40+ papers in top international journals and has delivered 50+ invited talks in scientific conferences across the globe.

Co-founder, ULO Labs Pvt Ltd
Dr Udeep Chawla
Dr Udeep Chawla is the Co-founder of ULO Labs Private Limited. He earned his PhD from the University of Arizona and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Kentucky, contributing to ground-breaking advancements in his field. His research portfolio includes several high-impact publications and two granted US patents, showcasing his expertise in transforming research into practical technological applications. He is also one of the mentors for the BIRAC E-YUVA program at Career College, Bhopal. Committed to strengthening India’s intellectual property landscape, he has trained and mentored faculty members and students on filing patents and securing copyrights. Dr Chawla aims to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.
Co-founder, Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd
Dr Pradip Majumdar

Dr Pradip Majumdar, a well-known oncologist, is a co-founder of Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd and Praesidia Biotherapeutics, a Boston based Biopharmaceuticals. He also co-founded Mitra Biotech, a cancer theranostic company, and guided the company’s technology platform for individualised cancer medicine from inception to clinical validation. He is also in a Board of Shilps Sciences, developing microfluid devices powered by AI for single-cell analysis, a Boston-based clinical-stage biopharma. He is also developing novel immunotherapy for solid cancers.

Before his entrepreneurial journey, Dr Pradip was a member of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston and a principal investigator at Merck Research Laboratories, Boston. He led a team and developed two novel anticancer drugs from early discovery to Phase II clinical development. Dr Pradip received his PhD in Cancer Pharmacology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and a research fellowship from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, and Harvard Medical School. He has more than 60 research publications in high-impact peer-reviewed scientific and clinical journals and many patents granted.

Dr Sunil Saini
Dr Sunil Saini, co-founder of SR Carehive Pvt Ltd, is a senior onco-surgeon and the Director of the Cancer Care Research Centre (CCRC) at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun. With over 30 years of experience in cancer care, he specialises in head and neck cancer surgery and is known for his expertise, leadership, and compassionate approach. An alumnus of Banaras Hindu University, Dr Saini has been instrumental in advancing patient care and medical education at CCRC since its inception. Under his guidance, CCRC has grown into a centre of excellence for cancer treatment and community healthcare in Uttarakhand and beyond. His venture, SR Carehive, is engaged in building a tech platform for elderly care.
Co-founder, Mirage Energy R&D Pvt Ltd
Dr Neha Gupta

Dr Neha Gupta’s, Co-founder of Mirage Energy R&D Pvt Ltd, work spans leading-edge projects in hydrogen and methane generation, biomass hydrolysis, biochar production, and circular economy models. Her deep technical expertise includes fermentation technologies, anaerobic digestion, and the design and operation of pilot-scale treatment plants. She has contributed to high-impact international publications and has presented at global conferences in the field of solid waste management and environmental biotechnology.

Her previous roles include Research Associate at IIT Guwahati, R&D Manager at Revy Environmental Solutions, and Project Manager at Tata Trusts’ Himmotthan Society, where she led major initiatives aligned with Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and carbon credit models for biochar. With over 15 years of cross-disciplinary experience in environmental engineering, bioprocesses, and sustainable development, Dr Neha Gupta is a research-driven professional passionate about innovative solutions in biofuel production, waste-to-energy technologies, and water sustainability. She holds a PhD in Biochemical Science and Masters in Biotechnology, both from IIT Roorkee. In her PhD, she specialised in the biodegradation of industrial wastewater pollutants.

Dr Naveen Prakash Kandwal
Dr N. P. Kandwal is a dedicated researcher and academician affiliated with the Himalayan School of Management Studies at Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Dehradun. Currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing Management, he holds an MBA and has qualified for the UGC-NET in Management. Dr Kandwal’s research focuses on sustainable business practices in rural hilly regions, contributing to the development of smart villages in Uttarakhand. He has co-authored publications on integrative wellness practices and sustainable development goals. Additionally, he serves as the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Ayuda Holistique Pvt. Ltd., reflecting his commitment to blending academic insights with entrepreneurial initiatives.
Co-founder, Eco Bambrin India Pvt Ltd
Dr. Nisha Tripathi

Dr Nisha Tripathi is a highly experienced professional with a Doctorate in Phytochemistry, specialising in Organic Chemistry (Plant Chemistry), with her research conducted at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. Currently, she is the Director and cofounder of Eco Bambrin India Private Limited (EBIPL), a business focusing on innovative plant-based products, including bamboo handicrafts, handloom products, and speciality teas like bamboo, roselle, and blue tea. Her entrepreneurial work, which includes completing bamboo handicraft training for tribal communities in Maharashtra, has earned her the Entrepreneurship Champions Awards 2024 – Certificate of Excellence. Concurrently, she has worked as a part-time consultant in Sanjeevani Foundation for Health Education & Environment Research Action (SFHEERA) since 2018. Her project work focuses on natural resource technology, such as developing commercial technologies for Himalayan Nettle fibre extraction and preparing various market surveys and engineering reports on topics ranging from millet products to catalytic porous Zeolite. She holds a published patent on “Hill bamboo fibre processing technology” and has numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on the phytochemical and fibre properties of plant species like Girardinia diversifolia and Girardinia heterophylla.
