General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery is one of the oldest established departments that started along with the foundation of our institute in 1994 and happens to be the first PG department in the state of Uttarakhand. With a rich profile of dynamic & expert faculty members coming from reputed medical colleges of the country, we are dedicated to patient care, undergraduate education and postgraduate training & research.

Apart from Basic General Surgical services including Advanced Minimal Access Surgeries, the department encompasses dedicated and specialized units for Urology, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, and Oncosurgery. General Surgery works in close partnership with the associate institution, Cancer Research Institute, in Oncosurgical procedures. We also perform basic and advance diagnostics and therapeutic upper & lower GI endoscopy.

We have rich clinical material for MBBS and Post Graduate (PG) students providing a fine blend of theoretical and clinical experience. Students pursuing MS, benefit hugely from the wider exposure received across different sub-specialties under one roof. This becomes possible because of the department’s unique approach of rotation practice during the PG program. As a result, a large number of MS students are able to find positions in MCh. after completion of the program, in top institutions of the country.
