Pre-incubation

Mirage Energy R&D Private Limited was founded in response to the growing global challenges of water scarcity, pollution, and the urgent need for sustainable waste management. It aims to harness innovative technologies and research-driven solutions to conserve, treat, and reuse water efficiently, addressing both environmental and public health concerns. Alongside water management, the startup is focused on converting solid and organic waste into clean biofuels and renewable energy. By doing so, it promotes a circular economy model that reduces landfill dependency, lowers carbon emissions, and encourages the sustainable use of natural resources.

Canfinis Therapeutics Private Limited

Canfinis Therapeutics Private Limited is an oncology cell therapy company, pioneering in deep tech cancer treatment innovations. The start-up was established in 2021 to develop advanced cancer treatments using customized cell therapies. The company aims to develop CAR-T therapy for the treatment of solid tumours. Additionally, Canfinis is also building a novel ex vivo Tumour Microenvironment (TME) platform to assess the efficacy of new drug molecules and standard-of-care (SOC) therapies. Canfinis collaborates with premier institutions and industries in India and internationally, and have global experts from Harvard, Brown, CNCI Kolkata, CRI Dehradun as clinical / scientific advisors and founders.

Ayuda Holistique Private Limited

Ayuda Holistique Private Limited is an SRHU-incubated startup developing a mobile app and e-commerce platform to connect Ayurveda practitioners and patients on a single, accessible platform. The app offers authentic Ayurvedic consultations, treatments, and products, making traditional wellness practices more reachable in today’s digital age. With a clear vision to promote Ayurveda globally, Ayuda Holistique is committed to advancing holistic health and well-being. By blending modern technology with ancient healing systems, the startup aims to position India as a leading centre for Ayurveda and contribute to the growth of preventive and personalized healthcare worldwide.

Mindura Yogwell

Mindura Yogwell is a wellness and yoga pre-startup venture, incubated at HCIE, dedicated to promoting holistic health through traditional yoga practices. It offers professionally guided yoga, wellness, and mindfulness programs for students, faculty, staff, and the broader SRHU community. By integrating ancient wisdom with modern needs, Mindura Yogwell supports physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The initiative aligns with SRHU’s mission of holistic development and aims to create a healthier, more mindful campus environment. Through accessible and impactful programs, it encourages individuals to embrace sustainable wellness practices in their daily lives.

The Food Project (TFP)

The Food Project (TFP) is a pre-startup initiative incubated at HCIE, dedicated to tackling the growing issue of food adulteration by offering fresh, zero-junk, no preservative food ingredients sourced directly from farmers. With a strong focus on health, purity, and sustainability, TFP ensures that consumers have access to safe, high-quality essentials while supporting underprivileged farmers' economic upliftment. The initiative promotes transparency and trust in everyday food choices by building a direct farm-to-table supply chain. TFP’s current product line includes Mustard Oil, Turmeric, Wild Flower Honey, and The Protein Flour—each crafted to deliver nutrition without compromise.

Co-founder, Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd

Dr Amjad Husain

Dr Amjad Husain is Professor at Cancer Care Research Centre (CCRC) and co-founder of Canfinis Therapeutics (a company started by Harvard fellows and faculty). He graduated with a Master’s in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee, and a PhD from ICGEB Delhi (JNU), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where two of his drug molecules moved to clinical trials in the USA. Dr Amjad has also completed his executive management program at Harvard Business School. With his mentor, he developed high-throughput drug screening technology, which was commercialised and acquired by a major pharmaceutical company in the USA After moving back to India, he has worked in leadership positions in the biotech industry, including as Senior Vice President R&D and Business Development at Avesthagen, GM R&D / Senior Director at Biocon, and Group Leader Precision Medicine Oncology at Cellworks. He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of IICE at IISER Bhopal and also as a Principal Scientist at IISER Bhopal. He has contributed to multiple biotech and therapeutic products in the market or in various stages of trials. He has published 40+ papers in top international journals and has delivered 50+ invited talks in scientific conferences across the globe.

Co-founder, Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd
Dr Pradip Majumdar

Dr Pradip Majumdar, a well-known oncologist, is a co-founder of Canfinis Therapeutics Pvt Ltd and Praesidia Biotherapeutics, a Boston based Biopharmaceuticals. He also co-founded Mitra Biotech, a cancer theranostic company, and guided the company’s technology platform for individualised cancer medicine from inception to clinical validation. He is also in a Board of Shilps Sciences, developing microfluid devices powered by AI for single-cell analysis, a Boston-based clinical-stage biopharma. He is also developing novel immunotherapy for solid cancers.

Before his entrepreneurial journey, Dr Pradip was a member of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston and a principal investigator at Merck Research Laboratories, Boston. He led a team and developed two novel anticancer drugs from early discovery to Phase II clinical development. Dr Pradip received his PhD in Cancer Pharmacology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and a research fellowship from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, and Harvard Medical School. He has more than 60 research publications in high-impact peer-reviewed scientific and clinical journals and many patents granted.

Dr Udeep Chawla
Dr Udeep Chawla is the Co-founder of ULO Labs Private Limited. He earned his PhD from the University of Arizona and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Kentucky, contributing to ground-breaking advancements in his field. His research portfolio includes several high-impact publications and two granted US patents, showcasing his expertise in transforming research into practical technological applications. He is also one of the mentors for the BIRAC E-YUVA program at Career College, Bhopal. Committed to strengthening India’s intellectual property landscape, he has trained and mentored faculty members and students on filing patents and securing copyrights. Dr Chawla aims to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.

Dr Sunil Saini
Dr Sunil Saini, co-founder of SR Carehive Pvt Ltd, is a senior onco-surgeon and the Director of the Cancer Care Research Centre (CCRC) at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun. With over 30 years of experience in cancer care, he specialises in head and neck cancer surgery and is known for his expertise, leadership, and compassionate approach. An alumnus of Banaras Hindu University, Dr Saini has been instrumental in advancing patient care and medical education at CCRC since its inception. Under his guidance, CCRC has grown into a centre of excellence for cancer treatment and community healthcare in Uttarakhand and beyond. His venture, SR Carehive, is engaged in building a tech platform for elderly care.

Dr Neha Gupta

Dr Neha Gupta’s, Co-founder of Mirage Energy R&D Pvt Ltd, work spans leading-edge projects in hydrogen and methane generation, biomass hydrolysis, biochar production, and circular economy models. Her deep technical expertise includes fermentation technologies, anaerobic digestion, and the design and operation of pilot-scale treatment plants. She has contributed to high-impact international publications and has presented at global conferences in the field of solid waste management and environmental biotechnology.

Her previous roles include Research Associate at IIT Guwahati, R&D Manager at Revy Environmental Solutions, and Project Manager at Tata Trusts’ Himmotthan Society, where she led major initiatives aligned with Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and carbon credit models for biochar. With over 15 years of cross-disciplinary experience in environmental engineering, bioprocesses, and sustainable development, Dr Neha Gupta is a research-driven professional passionate about innovative solutions in biofuel production, waste-to-energy technologies, and water sustainability. She holds a PhD in Biochemical Science and Masters in Biotechnology, both from IIT Roorkee. In her PhD, she specialised in the biodegradation of industrial wastewater pollutants.

Dr Naveen Prakash Kandwal

Dr N. P. Kandwal is a dedicated researcher and academician affiliated with the Himalayan School of Management Studies at Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Dehradun. Currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing Management, he holds an MBA and has qualified for the UGC-NET in Management. Dr Kandwal’s research focuses on sustainable business practices in rural hilly regions, contributing to the development of smart villages in Uttarakhand. He has co-authored publications on integrative wellness practices and sustainable development goals. Additionally, he serves as the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Ayuda Holistique Pvt. Ltd., reflecting his commitment to blending academic insights with entrepreneurial initiatives.

International Endowed Chair Professor

Prof Rakesh Kumar

Prof Rakesh Kumar is the Founder and President of the Breast Cancer in Young Women Foundation (USA), dedicated to vaddressing the distinct issues affecting young women with breast cancer. He also serves as the International Endowed Chair Professor at the Cancer Research Institute of the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences. Additionally, he holds adjunct professorships at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr Kumar earned his Ph.D. from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1984 and began his research career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in January 1986. From 1988 to 2017, he held various academic and leadership positions —including faculty member, tenured professor, distinguished professor, endowed chair, department chair, and research leader—at esteemed institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. From 2017 to 2022, he served as the National Chair for Cancer Research for the Government of India and as a distinguished professor, continuing his innovative work in breast cancer research.

With nearly 40 years of research and professional experience, Dr. Kumar has made conceptual contributions to the field of cancer research (h-index 108, citations >50,000). He has authored over 325 peer-reviewed publications, edited or co-edited nine books, and delivered 290 invited lectures worldwide. His work has been featured on the covers of 18 major cancer journals and has been highlighted in institutional research reports of the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Kumar has guided 67 trainees throughout his career. He serves on the editorial boards of multiple leading cancer journals and has served on the editorial boards of 21 top cancer journals. His global reputation is further demonstrated by his participation in about 100 peer-review panels for cancer research funding in the US and internationally over the past 28 years.

Dr. Kumar's innovative research has earned him numerous prestigious honors, including the Hinkle Society Faculty Award at Penn State University (1994), the Dalla/Fort Worth Living Legend Faculty Achievement Award in Basic Sciences (2004), the Ranbaxy Research Award (2006), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Indian Scientists in Cancer Research (2013), among others. Dr. Kumar's pioneering research continues to have a profound influence on the fields of oncology and breast cancer, opening up new opportunities for biomedical scientists and trainees worldwide.
