On the occasion of National Safe Motherhood Day, the Himalayan College of Nursing, Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Jolly Grant, organized a special awareness programme at Community Health Centre (CHC), Doiwala to promote maternal health and safe motherhood practices among pregnant women.
The programme was conducted under the theme “Continuous Attention to Maternal Health.” Addressing the participants, gynecologist Dr. Monika emphasized that the health of both mother and child is of utmost importance. She highlighted the need for regular health check-ups, balanced nutrition, and timely medical consultation during pregnancy to ensure safe delivery and overall well-being.
Students of BSc Nursing organized a poster exhibition on topics such as anemia prevention, prenatal care, and maternal nutrition, providing valuable information to the attendees. The exhibition aimed to spread awareness about essential healthcare practices during pregnancy.
Dr. Sanchita Pugazhandi, Principal of Himalayan College of Nursing, stated that proper awareness and timely medical care can prevent many serious complications during pregnancy. She noted that such community outreach initiatives play an important role in promoting maternal health awareness.
The programme also featured a nukkad natak performed by nursing students, explaining pregnancy-related symptoms, precautions, and possible complications in simple language. A quiz competition for pregnant women was also organized, with prizes awarded to encourage participation.
Dr. Kanchan Bala, Upma George, Charu Saini and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
