The Department of Clinical Research, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), inaugurated the Fourth Five-Week Training Programme on “Ensuring Integrity in Healthcare: Good Clinical Practice & Medical Ethics” on 30 June 2026. The programme is sponsored by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and will be conducted from 30 June to 29 July 2026.
Designed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals and researchers, the five-week programme aims to enhance participants’ understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), medical ethics, research integrity, and the regulatory framework governing clinical research and healthcare. A total of 30 participants from four different colleges and universities have enrolled in the programme, reflecting the growing interest in ethical and quality-driven clinical research. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional Lamp Lighting and Guru Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and ethical excellence.
Dr. Nikku Yadav, Principal Investigator of the training programme, presented an overview of the initiative and highlighted the critical role of Good Clinical Practice in ensuring participant safety, data integrity, scientific credibility, and regulatory compliance in clinical research. She also shared the achievements and outcomes of the previous three editions of the programme, emphasizing the highly positive participant feedback, enhanced professional competencies, and the programme’s significant contribution towards strengthening ethical and regulatory practices among healthcare professionals and clinical researchers across the country.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr. Anuradha Kusum, Vice Principal, Allied Health Undergraduate Programme, SRHU, emphasized the increasing importance of ethical conduct, scientific integrity, and adherence to Good Clinical Practice in ensuring high-quality healthcare and responsible clinical research. She encouraged participants to actively engage in the academic sessions and make the most of this comprehensive capacity-building programme.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Ahmadulla Shariff, Dean, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), SRHU, stated that ethics, professionalism, and regulatory compliance form the foundation of modern healthcare and clinical research. He highlighted the responsibility of healthcare professionals and researchers to uphold patient safety, maintain research integrity, and adhere to the highest ethical standards while contributing to scientific advancement. Appreciating the Department of Clinical Research for organizing this important national-level training programme, he wished all participants a productive and enriching learning experience.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Manisha Sharma, who expressed sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizing committee, resource persons, and participants for their enthusiastic support in making the inaugural session a success. She acknowledged the collective efforts of the Department of Clinical Research and all stakeholders in successfully launching the fourth edition of this prestigious academic initiative.
Following the inaugural session, the technical programme commenced with a series of expert lectures, interactive discussions, case-based learning, and practical sessions covering Good Clinical Practice, medical ethics, regulatory requirements, research integrity, quality assurance, pharmacovigilance, and contemporary challenges in clinical research.
The inauguration reaffirmed Swami Rama Himalayan University’s commitment to promoting ethical healthcare practices, strengthening research excellence, and developing competent healthcare professionals through high-quality academic and professional development programmes.
Among the distinguished faculty members and dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr. D. C. Dhasmana, Dr. Ruchi Juyal, Dr. Sourabh Kohli, Dr. Taruna Sharma, Dr. Kiran Bhat, Dr. A. K. Srivastava, Dr. Abha Srivastava, and Ms. Pooja, along with faculty members, researchers, healthcare professionals, and participants from diverse disciplines.
