The Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Jolly Grant has taken a significant step toward strengthening modern healthcare services with the launch of an advanced Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)–based reporting system in its Department of Radiology. The system was formally inaugurated by Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, President of Swami Rama Himalayan University, along with founding member Dr. Samuel. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana emphasized that the university continues to expand its medical services in line with international healthcare standards. He noted that adopting advanced technologies such as PACS is essential for improving the quality of patient care and ensuring world-class medical facilities.
PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is a modern digital platform that enables radiology images such as CT scans, MRI, and X-rays to be securely stored, viewed, and shared electronically. According to Head of the Radiology Department Dr. Shailendra Raghuvanshi, the implementation of this system will significantly enhance efficiency by enabling faster report generation and more accurate diagnosis through high-quality digital imaging. Doctors will also be able to access patient imaging data remotely, improving coordination and timely treatment. Dr. Prachi Kala highlighted that the system will eliminate the need for patients to carry physical films while also reducing the use of chemicals and films, thereby supporting environmentally responsible medical practices. Faculty members and staff from the radiology department were present during the inauguration ceremony.
