The Department of Paediatrics successfully organised the 39th UG IAP Quiz 2026 – College Round on 24 August 2026, providing undergraduate medical students with a platform to demonstrate their knowledge, clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills and confidence in Paediatrics.
The programme was graced by Prof. Dr. V. C. Chauhan, Director Academics; Dr. Ashok Kumar Deorari, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dr. Reshma Kaushik, PG Programmes HIMS, along with senior faculty members and faculty of the Department of Paediatrics.
The event began with a screening round involving 45 undergraduate students, from which the top eight students qualified for the main quiz. The main competition comprised seven rounds covering General Paediatrics, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Systemic Paediatrics, Diagnostics & Therapeutics, Immunisation and a Visual Round. The closely contested competition went into a tie-breaker round before the final results were declared.

The winning team will now represent the college at the Divisional Round of the UG IAP Quiz, competing against winning teams from other colleges of the state.
The quiz was conducted by Dr. Neerul Pandita, Associate Professor, as Quiz Master, while Dr. Sonam Agarwal, Associate Professor, served as the Master of Ceremonies. Residents of the Department of Paediatrics supported the event as scorers, timers and coordinators.
Faculty members of the Department of Paediatrics present included Dr. Sanober Wasim, Professor & Head; Dr. Alpa Gupta, Dr. Anil Rawat and Dr. Ashish Kumar Simalti, Professors; Dr. Neerul Pandita, Dr. Nitika Agrawal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Sonam Agarwal, Associate Professors; and Dr. Jyoti Walia, Dr. Mandeep Singh Khalsa, Dr. Talha Rehman and Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professors. The programme also witnessed enthusiastic participation and support from a large gathering of MBBS students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. V. C. Chauhan appreciated the enthusiastic participation and performance of the teams and commended the Department of Paediatrics for mentoring and encouraging undergraduate students to engage in academic activities. Dr. Ashok Kumar Deorari appreciated the students’ competency, confidence and academic preparedness and encouraged them to continue pursuing academic excellence. Dr. Sanober Wasim, Professor & Head, Department of Paediatrics, highlighted the rich legacy of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and its contribution to promoting academic excellence among young medical professionals, while congratulating all participating teams.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sonam Agarwal, who acknowledged the contribution of the dignitaries, faculty members, students, residents and organising team. The event was followed by high tea, providing an opportunity for faculty and students to interact and celebrate the successful academic engagement.
