The Department of Clinical Research, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully inaugurated a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Healthcare Research & Biostatistics on 25 February 2026. The workshop was designed to strengthen methodological rigor, enhance statistical competencies, and build practical expertise in clinical and public health research.
The program was formally inaugurated by Dr Ashok Kumar Deorari, Pro Vice Chancellor, SRHU, who emphasized the importance of ethical research conduct, scientific integrity, and evidence-based decision-making in advancing healthcare outcomes.
During the inaugural session, Dr Nikku Yadav, Head, Department of Clinical Research, highlighted the critical role of biostatistics in healthcare research. She emphasized that robust statistical planning and appropriate analytical methodologies are fundamental to generating credible evidence, minimizing bias, and strengthening clinical and public health interventions.
The academic sessions were delivered by eminent experts including Dr R. J. Yadav, Former Director Grade Scientist ‘G’, NIMS-ICMR, New Delhi; Dr A. K. Srivastava, Professor, Community Medicine, HIMS, SRHU; Dr Anup Kumar, Professor, SGPGIMS, Lucknow; and Sr Sushant Singh, Co-Founder, ClinicalVeda, Hyderabad. The sessions comprehensively covered biostatistics, study designs, sampling strategies, and clinical data management practices.
The workshop was organized by faculty members including Dr. Ruchi Juyal, Dr. Manisha Sharma, Dr. Vishu Chauhan, Dr Geeta Bhandari, Dr Vishal Rajput, Dr Vibhor Sharma, Ms. Akanksha Uniyal, Mr. Abhinav Bhavguna, and Ms. Pooja, whose presence further enriched the academic deliberations.
The first day concluded with interactive discussions and knowledge exchange, reinforcing the university’s commitment to strengthening research capacity and promoting excellence in healthcare research.
