BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY
Breast Cancer Awareness Day was observed on 13.10. 2025 at School of Biosciences, with the objective of promoting awareness about early detection, prevention, and management of breast cancer among women. The event was organized as part of the Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun ongoing commitment to health education, women’s wellness, and social responsibility. The objective of the awareness was to spread awareness about breast cancer and its early signs, educate women on the importance of regular self-examination and screening, remove myths and misconceptions associated with breast cancer and to promote a healthy lifestyle and preventive healthcare practices.
The awareness programme commenced with an introduction of senior onco-surgeon, of Cancer Research and Care Centre (CRCC), Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Manish Pattanayak, who spoke at length on causes and risk factors of breast cancer and Importance of mammography and self-breast examination.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from almost 100 female students of School of Biosciences. The event successfully created a deeper understanding among participants regarding the importance of early diagnosis and regular screening
The Breast Cancer Awareness Day served as a reminder that awareness is the first step toward prevention. The event reinforced the message that “Early Detection Saves Lives” and encouraged every woman to take charge of her health.
