On August 7, 2024, the Department of Clinical Research at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a Fire Safety Lecture facilitated by Mr. Praveen Rawat. The session aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of fire prevention measures and familiarize them with critical safety protocols.
Mr. Rawat highlighted the fundamental principles of fire safety, emphasizing the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and timely response to fire emergencies. The lecture covered essential topics such as fire drills, emergency exits, and proper maintenance of fire safety equipment.
A key feature of the session was the explanation of colour codes used in fire safety:
- Red: Fire alarms and extinguishers
- Blue: Fire safety equipment and emergency procedures
- Yellow: Hazardous materials
- Green: Safe zones and assembly points
Participants also learned important fire prevention techniques including electrical system maintenance, safe storage of flammable materials, and keeping exit routes clear.
The session successfully enhanced participants’ fire safety awareness and preparedness, with many expressing a commitment to applying these crucial safety practices in their personal and professional environments.
