Environmental Sanitation Drive and Tree Plantation by SRHU Community Medicine Dept
The Department of Community Medicine at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a special tree plantation campaign along with a public awareness session on “Environmental Sanitation” on 23 July 2025.
The program was conducted at the Government Inter College, Bullawala, and a Government Primary School in the vicinity. MBBS students from the 2024 batch actively participated under the guidance of faculty members.
Medicinal and ornamental plants such as guava, mango, litchi, and lemon were planted during the campaign. The plants were labeled, and students were also informed about their care. The objective was to enhance greenery within school campuses and instill a sense of environmental responsibility among students.
The session focused on topics like personal and community hygiene, waste management, and prevention of waterborne and vector-borne diseases. School students gave presentations on cleanliness, personal hygiene, and illnesses like diarrhea.
The initiative helped students gain a better understanding of the link between cleanliness and health. Additionally, school authorities were inspired to maintain cleaner and greener campuses.
The campaign was led by Prof. Ashok Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Vidisha Vallabh (Associate Professor), Dr. Abhinav Semwal, Dr. Ipsita Bhushan, and Dr. Mitisha Rustagi (Junior Residents).
