The Centre for Library & Information Management (CLIM), in collaboration with the SRHU Library System, successfully organized an FDP (“Faculty Development Programme on Identification of Predatory Journals and Copyright Issues in the Age of AI”) on 2nd May 2026 at the Dr. B.C. Roy Conference Hall from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
The FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 80 attendees representing various academic units of SRHU, including doctors, faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students.
The proceedings commenced with the traditional lamp lighting and Guru Vandana, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Professor Yogendra Singh, University Librarian and Coordinator, CLIM. In his address, he emphasized the emerging challenges associated with copyright in the age of AI, particularly in relation to content ownership, fair use, and ethical information practices. This was followed by addresses by the Guests of Honour, Prof. Ashu Shokeen (Retd.) (Kurukshetra University), who shared memorable experiences from his career and offered deep insights into maintaining fair practices and academic integrity in scholarly communication, especially in the context of predatory publishing. Prof. Rupak Chakravarty (Panjab University), the invited speaker and resource person for the FDP, highlighted key strategies for identifying predatory journals and underscored the importance of awareness and critical evaluation in ensuring the quality and credibility of research publications in the evolving AI-driven academic landscape.
The FDP was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, who, in his address, emphasized the critical importance of identifying predatory journals and understanding copyright issues in the age of AI. He highlighted the role of academic institutions and libraries in promoting ethical publishing practices, safeguarding intellectual property, and fostering responsible knowledge dissemination within the academic community. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor also inaugurated the Ovid Discovery Service at SRHU—a single search platform for all subscribed resources—aimed at facilitating easy navigation for the academic community.
The occasion was further honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Director, HCIE; Director, CDOE; Director, IQAC; Dean, SBS; Dean, SST; and Principal, SYS; Principal HCN.
The event’s success was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Organizing Chairperson/Secretary and the organizing team. The FDP concluded with a question-and-answer and feedback session, followed by the vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
