Fostering Equality: Gender Sensitization Session at Dikshaarambh 2025

As part of the Dikshaarambh Orientation Program 2025, the School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a session on Gender Sensitization on 21st August 2025 at Visvesvaraya Auditorium. The session was conducted by Dr. Pooja Baloni, Assistant Professor, SST, and attended by over 280 first-year students from BCA, MCA, B.Tech, and B.Sc. (Data Science).

The session aimed to create awareness about gender sensitivity, equality, and inclusiveness within academic and social spaces. Dr. Baloni engaged students through interactive discussions, real-life examples, and case-based scenarios, emphasizing the importance of respect, empathy, and equal opportunities regardless of gender.

Key objectives included sensitizing students towards gender equality, addressing stereotypes and biases, and fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. Students were encouraged to challenge preconceived notions, appreciate diversity, and recognize the positive impact of gender sensitivity on both personal growth and professional success.

The session highlighted how mutual respect and inclusiveness form the foundation of a progressive academic environment. Students actively participated, sharing perspectives and reflecting on ways to contribute towards building a gender-sensitive culture at the university.

The outcome of the session was highly impactful as students gained deeper understanding of the relevance of gender sensitization in today’s world. They expressed commitment to adopt positive attitudes and inclusive behavior, thereby strengthening SRHU’s vision of a supportive and equitable learning community.

This initiative not only raised awareness but also laid the groundwork for fostering diversity, equality, and respect—ensuring that students embark on their academic journey with the right values and a broader perspective.
