Guest Lecture on “Healing Beyond the Hospital”
The Himalayan College of Nursing, Swami Rama Himalayan University in collaboration with the BCYW Foundation, USA, organised an insightful guest lecture titled “Healing Beyond the Hospital” on 19th November 2025 at the Adi-Kailash Auditorium.
The lecture was delivered by Ms. Lorna Larsen, RN, BSc Nurse, an experienced health promotion specialist and advocate for community-based wellness. She shared her profound experience on creating awareness among young adolescent girls regarding early detection of breast cancer by regular breast self-examination (BSE) and timely treatment. She also discussed about the importance of preventive health care behaviour and healthy lifestyle practices to be followed by adolescent girls.
The Lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively asked questions and clarified their doubts. The event proved highly motivating, strengthening students’ understanding of breast cancer and inspiring them to do regular breast self-examination.
A total of 300 participants including nursing students, nursing faculty and nursing staff enthusiastically participated in this educational session.
