On 27 January 2025, the Department of Clinical Research at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a session titled “The Power of Emotional Intelligence Enhancing Personal and Professional Growth.” The session was conducted by Dr. Ekta Rao at the Training and Development Cell, HIMS, with 25 students in attendance. The primary objective was to emphasize the importance of emotional intelligence (EI) in fostering personal well-being and professional effectiveness.

Dr. Rao explained that emotional intelligence involves the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s own emotions as well as those of others. She highlighted how high EI strengthens relationships by improving communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and trust-building. Moreover, emotionally intelligent individuals are better equipped to handle stress and challenges, maintaining composure and resilience even under pressure. In professional settings, EI enhances collaboration, leadership, adaptability, and decision-making, contributing to a positive work environment and improved problem-solving skills.

The session underscored the role of emotional intelligence in developing effective leadership and inspiring teams. Dr. Rao emphasized that leaders with high EI can motivate others while fostering harmony and productivity. Attendees learned how cultivating EI not only supports mental health but also enriches interpersonal interactions and drives growth in both personal and professional spheres.

Overall, the session was well-received, with students actively engaging and gaining valuable insights into the impact of emotional intelligence on success and well-being. The Department of Clinical Research expressed appreciation to Dr. Ekta Rao for her enlightening presentation and encouraged participants to apply the principles of EI in their daily lives.
