HIMS Dermatology Team Provides Free Skin Care to Patients Across Uttarakhand
On July 13, 2025, the Department of Dermatology, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a Mega Skin Health Camp under the National IADVL initiative. The outreach program was conducted simultaneously at five locations across Uttarakhand—Rishikesh, Jollygrant, and three centers in Dehradun—aimed at spreading awareness about common skin, hair, and nail disorders and ensuring access to free consultations, treatment, and medication for underserved communities.
In Rishikesh, the camp was held at SPS Government Hospital, coordinated by Dr. Rashmi Jindal with the support of residents Dr. Shobhit, Dr. Jagriti, and Dr. Darshana. A total of 121 patients were attended to at this site. At PEN India School in Jollygrant, 44 patients were seen by Dr. Teena, under the guidance of Dr. Samarjit Roy and Dr. Arnav Mittal. In Dehradun, two parallel camps were conducted—one at the National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH), where 46 patients received care, and another at Raphael, which served 40 patients. Both were led by Dr. Y S Bisht and supported by residents Dr. Sakshi and Dr. Simran. The fifth location, Vikasnagar in Dehradun, saw the participation of Dr. Ruchi Hemdani and catered to 61 patients.
In total, 312 patients benefited from the dermatology services provided. Along with free medication, they were educated about the importance of early detection and continuous treatment of skin ailments, with an emphasis on seeking care from qualified dermatologists. The event was marked by the enthusiastic participation of faculty and residents, reflecting the department’s strong commitment to community service and holistic healthcare.
