HIMS-SRHU Marks World Suicide Prevention Day with Hope and Awareness
The Department of Clinical Psychology, HIMS-SRHU, observed World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, 2025, with a meaningful program aimed at spreading hope, breaking stigma, and strengthening community support. The event began with a keynote address by Dr. Hem Chandera, emphasizing the importance of early warning sign recognition and collective responsibility in mental well-being. Dr. Malini Srivastava highlighted resilience-building and self-training to overcome alienation and self-doubt. A moving skit, “Because You Matter,” performed by PDCP students, creatively conveyed suicide prevention messages, leaving a deep impact on the audience. The day featured free OPD consultations, risk assessments, awareness activities, quizzes, and relaxation techniques, engaging over 65 patients and numerous visitors. Pamphlets, helpline details, and self-care resources were distributed, promoting mental health literacy. Led by Ms. Rashmi Rekha Seal with faculty, staff, and student volunteers, the event concluded with gratitude to all contributors for making it a success and taking a collective step toward saving lives.
