The Department of Radiology at SRHU successfully conducted a guest lecture and hands-on training session on “MRI Safety and Use of Contrast Media” on July 23, 2025. The session was organized in collaboration with GE Healthcare India Limited and held at the departmental seminar hall from 8:15 AM to 9:40 AM. The guest speaker, Mr. Abhishek Anand, Application Specialist at GE Healthcare, led the session, which saw participation from 09 faculty members, 03 senior residents, 17 junior residents, 28 radiographers, and 02 staff nurses.
The lecture offered an in-depth understanding of MRI safety protocols and the clinical applications of contrast media in radiology. Mr. Anand covered critical topics including the various types and uses of radiology contrast agents, awareness regarding potential adverse drug reactions, and standard guidelines for contrast administration. A significant highlight of the session was the discussion on the estimation and interpretation of Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) across different age groups, which is essential for safe contrast use in imaging.
The session was interactive and informative, concluding with a quiz that tested participants’ grasp of the material. Winners of the quiz were acknowledged by Professor Prachi Kala, promoting an engaging and participative learning environment. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. S.
