The School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) celebrated International Women’s Day on 9th March 2026 by organizing a series of academic and creative activities under the IEEE Women in Engineering (IEEE WIE) Student Affinity Group, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar, Dean, School of Science & Technology. The event was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shefali Khatri, IEEE WIE Coordinator, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Science & Technology, SRHU. The celebration was held at the Vishveshwarya Auditorium and began with an insightful Guest Lecture titled “Inside Deep Learning: Architecture, Core Blocks and Functional Dynamics” delivered by Dr. Anupama Namburu, Associate Professor, School of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where students gained valuable knowledge about deep learning architectures, their core components, and their real-world applications while being encouraged to explore research and career opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. In addition to the lecture, a creative activity titled “Narratives of Nari – Poetry & Storytelling” was organized, providing students with a platform to express their thoughts through inspiring poems and stories about women who influence and motivate them, thereby celebrating women’s achievements, resilience, and empowerment. The program also featured an engaging quiz competition titled “Quiz-A-Shakti – Women Leaders Trivia Challenge,” which enhanced students’ awareness of influential women leaders across various fields such as science, technology, politics, and social reform, while encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and knowledge sharing. Overall, the series of events successfully promoted academic learning, creativity, and awareness about women’s empowerment, inspiring students to recognize and appreciate the significant role of women in shaping society, innovation, and leadership.
