Guest Lecture on Cancer Awareness Highlights Prevention and Early Detection

On 6th February 2025, the Himalayan School of Management Studies (HSMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University, organized a guest lecture on cancer awareness for BBA IV semester students. The session, held at KLT-7, was led by Dr. Vinay and Dr. Amjad, experts from the field of oncology. The event was convened by Dr. Gargi Pant Shukla and attended by 41 students, aiming to foster greater understanding of cancer, its risk factors, and the importance of early detection.

The speakers offered an informative and empathetic session that addressed common types of cancer, early warning signs, and how lifestyle choices—such as nutrition, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol—play a critical role in prevention. They also discussed the role of genetics and family history in cancer development and emphasized that a large percentage of cancers are preventable with timely awareness and medical intervention.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students asked insightful questions about myths, preventive measures, and emotional aspects of the disease. The doctors answered with clarity and compassion, encouraging students to adopt healthy habits and share accurate information within their communities.

The session aligned with HSMS’s vision of developing socially responsible and health-conscious graduates. It not only dispelled common misconceptions about cancer but also empowered students with knowledge and motivation to contribute to public health awareness.
