On 5th February 2025, the Himalayan School of Science & Technology hosted an insightful lecture in observance of National Cancer Awareness Day. Dr. Vipul Nautiyal from the Department of Cancer Research Institute at Swami Rama Himalayan University delivered the session, focusing on educating students about cancer’s causes, prevention, and recent treatment advancements. The lecture highlighted various cancer types, with particular attention to breast and cervical cancers affecting women and mouth cancer predominantly affecting men.

Dr. Nautiyal emphasized the critical importance of early detection and timely intervention, encouraging students to adopt healthier lifestyles and undergo regular screenings. The interactive format of the session included a Q&A segment, where students actively engaged by asking about hereditary risks, dietary factors, and screening methods. This dialogue helped clarify misconceptions and provided the students with practical knowledge to better understand cancer prevention.

Attended by 46 students, the lecture successfully raised awareness about the role of lifestyle choices and early diagnosis in combating cancer. The event underscored the importance of continuous education on health issues and inspired students to be proactive in managing their well-being. Through such initiatives, HSST continues to foster a culture of informed health awareness among its community.
