The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Swami Rama Himalayan University organized “Pharma Anveshan 2026” on 9th March 2026 at the Adi Kailash Auditorium. The event was conducted under the theme of this year’s Pharma Anveshan was “Future Pharma Ecosystem: Fostering Synergy among Academia, Industry, Research, Regulatory and Practice.”
The programme was organized on the occasion of National Pharmacy Education Day, which is celebrated to commemorate the contributions of Dr. Mahadeva Lal Schroff, regarded as the father of pharmacy education in India. The celebration highlighted the importance of pharmacy education and its role in shaping competent healthcare professionals for the future. The programme aimed to provide a platform for interaction and collaboration among academia, industry experts, researchers, and students and to discuss emerging trends, technological advancements, and future opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, industry professionals, Academicians, researchers, and pharmacy students.
The programme commenced with the welcome of dignitaries, invited guests, faculty members, and participants.
The formal inauguration began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and Guru Vandana, symbolizing the removal of darkness and the beginning of knowledge.
The distinguished Chief guest Dr. S. Farooq, President Himalaya Wellness Company, along with the invited guests was felicitated for their valuable presence and contributions to the programme.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof (Dr.) Preeti Kothiyal, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Dean warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and students. In her address, she emphasized the importance of industry–academia collaboration, skill development, and innovation in pharmaceutical education. The Dean also highlighted the significance of celebrating Pharmacy Education Day, explaining that it commemorates the contributions of Mahadeva Lal Schroff, who is regarded as the father of pharmacy education in India. She further informed the students about the historical importance of this day and encouraged them to uphold the values of the pharmacy profession. Furthermore, she discussed the future needs of pharmacy education, stressing the importance of adopting emerging technologies, strengthening research and innovation, and preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector.
Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal addressed the gathering and highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research advancement, and industry collaboration. He appreciated the efforts of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in organizing such a meaningful event for students and professionals.
The Chief Guest, Dr. S. Farooq, President of The Himalayan Wellness Company, delivered an inspiring address. He shared his industry experience and valuable insights into the future of the pharmaceutical sector, emphasizing the need for innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and skill enhancement among pharmacy graduates to meet the evolving demands of the pharmaceutical industry.
One of the major highlights of Pharma Anveshan 2026 was the series of panel discussions comprising of 3 tracks that addressed important issues related to the future of pharmaceutical education and the pharmaceutical industry. The panel discussions were graced by eminent experts from academia and industry, including:
The first track in panel discussion was conducted on the theme “Nurturing Talent – Developing Specialized Courses to Make Pharma Education More Industry-Centric.” The panellists emphasized the importance of designing skill-based and industry-oriented curricula, increasing industry internships, and incorporating practical training and case studies into pharmacy education to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements.
The second track in panel discussion, was “Competition for the Future – Need and Preparedness for Training Students in Artificial Intelligence,” focused on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in pharmaceutical sciences. Experts highlighted the applications of AI in drug discovery, clinical trials, data analysis, and personalized medicine. The discussion stressed the need to equip pharmacy students with digital skills, data science knowledge, and AI-based pharmaceutical tools to prepare them for the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical sector.
The third track in panel discussion was organized on the topic “Encouraging Innovation – Exploring Pharmacy Entrepreneurship.” This session focused on promoting entrepreneurial thinking among pharmacy students. Panellists discussed opportunities for pharmaceutical start-ups, commercialization of innovative research ideas, funding opportunities, incubation support, and strategies for building successful pharmaceutical enterprises.
The panel discussions provided valuable insights into industry-oriented education, technological advancement, and entrepreneurship in pharmacy. The sessions encouraged students to develop practical skills, adopt emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, and explore innovative career opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. The final take away for students was to Be adaptable, focus on continuous leaning and build a positive attitude.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Ganesh Kumar, Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, panellists, university authorities, faculty members, students, and organizing team for their presence and support in making the programme a grand success.
