The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Himalayan School of Science and Technology (HSST), Swami Rama Himalayan University, celebrated IEEE Day with a special event titled Tech Vision on 4th October 2024. Organized by IEEE student members, the event aimed to foster a spirit of innovation, technical creativity, and engagement with emerging technologies. It brought together students, faculty, and guests in an inspiring atmosphere that celebrated engineering excellence.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Kumar, Principal of HSST, who was joined by Mr. Harvinder Malhotra, Professor of Practice, and Mr. Ashish Gupta, Manager, C-PACE. Their presence and motivational words encouraged the students to embrace modern technological challenges and develop practical, transformative solutions for real-world issues. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of creativity and analytical thinking in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape.
Two main competitions formed the core of Tech Vision: Ingenious Mind and Canvas of Creativity. Ingenious Mind was a problem-solving contest designed to test participants’ ability to think critically and propose innovative, feasible solutions to current challenges. Meanwhile, Canvas of Creativity gave students an opportunity to explore the world of digital design using Canva, producing visually compelling and meaningful content that combined aesthetics with communication.
A total of 51 participants took part in the event, showcasing their skills, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit. The winners and runners-up of both competitions were felicitated with certificates and mementos in recognition of their efforts. Additionally, all volunteers who contributed to the event’s smooth execution were appreciated and presented with certificates of acknowledgment.
Tech Vision served as an excellent platform to blend competition with collaboration, sparking innovation and reinforcing the role of engineering in shaping the future. The celebration not only marked IEEE Day with significance but also strengthened the culture of technical exploration and creativity within the department.
