A Roundtable Discussion was held on 8th November 2025 at IIT Roorkee in the presence of Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO, Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), to explore strategies for enhancing research funding and strengthening institutional research capacity. SRHU was represented by Dr. Bindu Dey, Director (Research), along with her team. The session focused on improving the quality, impact, and competitiveness of research proposals from state institutions, with an emphasis on aligning research initiatives to national missions and societal priorities. Dr. Kalyanaraman highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration, adoption of emerging technologies, and development of strong institutional frameworks to address complex real-world challenges.
Participants discussed ways to build innovation ecosystems that connect academia, industry, and government, while also sharing insights on proposal formulation, evaluation parameters, and pathways to increase success rates for ANRF and national-level grants. Following the discussions, the SRHU team, including Dr. Bindu Dey, Prof. Vivek Kumar, and Dr. Geeta Rana, visited an exhibition where start-ups showcased their prototypes and emerging technological solutions, offering valuable exposure to entrepreneurial innovations. The session concluded with participating institutions committing to strengthen internal research management systems, enhance faculty capacity in proposal development, and establish dedicated units for interdisciplinary project facilitation. SRHU aims to align its research priorities with ANRF’s vision by promoting high-impact, technology-driven, and socially relevant research, while fostering collaborations with IIT Roorkee and other partners to advance innovation and contribute to India’s evolving research ecosystem.
