The School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully conducted the selection activity for the formation of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group under the IEEE SRHU Student Branch. The initiative aimed to encourage women’s participation, leadership, and professional growth in the fields of engineering and technology. The selection process was carried out in two phases and witnessed the participation of 50 students from various engineering disciplines. The first phase comprised an objective written test held on 13th December 2025 at Computer Lab 1 and Lab 4, Ground Floor, SST, SRHU. The test assessed participants’ computing fundamentals, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. Based on the performance in the written test, shortlisted candidates were invited for an interaction session conducted on 20th December 2025 at the Creative Cell, SST, SRHU. During this session, candidates were evaluated on their understanding of IEEE and IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), its vision, objectives, and planned activities. The interaction also focused on assessing the students’ communication skills, motivation, leadership potential, and willingness to actively contribute to the WIE Affinity Group. The entire activity was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shefali Khatri, Assistant Professor, SST, and IEEE-WIE Coordinator. Following the completion of the selection process, six students were selected for the formation of the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group. The successful constitution of the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group marks a significant milestone in strengthening women-led initiatives at SRHU. The group is expected to play a vital role in promoting technical excellence, leadership development, and gender inclusivity within the IEEE community and the university at large.
