On 11th October 2025, a seminar titled “Navigating the Cloud: A Beginner’s Guide to Digital Transformation” was conducted by Dr. Shiv Preet in LT-02, offering students an insightful introduction to cloud computing and its pivotal role in modern digital ecosystems. The session began with an overview of how cloud adoption enhances organizational agility, resilience, and innovation, followed by a detailed exploration of the technical frameworks that enable these advantages. Dr. Shiv Preet clearly explained the distinctions between Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), illustrating each model with practical use cases such as rapid prototyping, scalable web hosting, and managed analytics services.
He further elaborated on public, private, and hybrid cloud deployments, emphasizing how factors like regulatory needs, latency, and cost influence the right choice for organizations. Through a live demonstration, he guided participants step-by-step in deploying a basic application stack—showing the setup of virtual machines, storage, networking, and the use of monitoring tools for operational reliability. The seminar also covered essential topics like CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and managed database services, highlighting how automation improves efficiency and reduces manual overhead.
Concluding the session, Dr. Shiv Preet provided valuable guidance on learning pathways, including hands-on labs, free-tier resources, and vendor-specific tutorials, to help students move from conceptual understanding to real-world application. He also discussed industry-recognized certifications such as AWS, Azure, and GCP fundamentals, encouraging participants to complement certifications with practical projects like app deployment or automated workflows. The seminar proved to be highly informative and motivating, offering a strong foundation for students aspiring to build careers in cloud computing and digital transformation.
