Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Jolly Grant, celebrated its three-day foundation festival Himotsav 2026 with vibrant cultural performances, student achievements, and community participation. The event brought together students, faculty, staff members, and guests in a grand celebration of talent, tradition, and academic excellence.
The festival commenced on 10 March 2026 with an inaugural ceremony where SRHU President Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Ashok Deorari, and Director General (Academic Development) Dr. Vijendra Chauhan lit the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of founder Gurudev Dr. Swami Rama. The evening featured colorful cultural performances reflecting diverse Indian traditions including Garhwali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, and South Indian dance forms. A special highlight was the classical dance-drama “Navaras Devi” presented by Sadhana Sangam Dance Centre, Bengaluru, portraying the nine forms of the Divine Mother through expressive classical dance.
The second day of Himotsav showcased a vibrant cultural evening celebrating India’s rich folk heritage. Students and staff presented captivating performances representing Garhwali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Himachali, Nepali, Haryanvi and South Indian traditions. Dance performances, musical jugalbandi, solo songs, yoga demonstrations, and group acts kept the audience engaged throughout the evening.
The concluding day featured a Student Felicitation Ceremony, where 240 meritorious students were honored for their achievements in academics, sports, arts, and literature. The awards included 166 academic awards, 25 diploma awards, 4 sports awards, and 35 fine arts and literary awards. Additionally, 10 students received scholarships of ₹20,000 each in recognition of their outstanding performance.
During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal emphasized that SRHU remains committed to providing value-based education along with academic excellence, encouraging students to uphold human values while contributing to society.
The festival concluded with celebrations of talent, culture, and achievement, reaffirming SRHU’s commitment to holistic student development and a vibrant academic community.
