SRHU observes Harela with Plantation Drive and Pledge for Environment
Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Jolly Grant, celebrated the traditional festival of Harela with a large-scale plantation drive, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation. The event saw the planting of nearly 500 saplings including Jamun, Peepal, Amaltas, Neem, and Lagerstroemia within the university campus.
The plantation campaign was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, President, SRHU, who emphasized that environmental protection and cleanliness are long-standing values of the university. “Harela is not just a festival; it’s a symbol of reverence to nature and a reminder of our duty to preserve the environment,” said Dr. Dhasmana.
Highlighting the growing threat of climate change and increasing natural calamities, he urged everyone to take meaningful action toward restoring ecological balance. He also called upon all members of the university to treat environmental conservation and cleanliness as fundamental duties and to inspire others by setting personal examples.
The plantation drive witnessed active participation from Registrar Commander Challa Venkateshwar (Retd.), Estate Officer Mr. Amrendra Kumar, along with principals and faculty members from various schools of the university.
The initiative reflected SRHU’s deep-rooted cultural values and its proactive role in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
