SRHU Researchers Visit Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly for Academic Exposure

Research scholars and faculty members from the Department of Water and Sanitation and the School of Biosciences, Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), undertook an educational visit to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, Dehradun, on 15 July 2025. The visit was organized as part of the collaborative initiatives under the historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed between SRHU and the International Institute for Parliamentary Study, Research, and Training.

During the one-day visit, the researchers explored the modern e-library housed within the Assembly premises. Equipped with a rich collection of digital parliamentary records, policy documents, and environmental literature, the e-library served as a valuable resource for the scholars. They accessed a variety of documents related to legislative processes, policy formulation, governance, and developmental research. The academic environment of the library contributed significantly to the enhancement of their ongoing research.

The visiting group also had the opportunity to tour key areas within the Assembly complex, including the main House chamber, legislative desks, and sections associated with parliamentary affairs and question handling. These interactions provided a practical understanding of how legislative procedures and state governance operate in real-time.

The objective of the visit was to offer students and researchers a closer look at the democratic processes, public policy structure, and the intersection of science and governance. The visit encouraged the scholars to think critically about real-world applications of their academic research and inspired interdisciplinary engagement between science, society, and policy-making.

This visit marks the beginning of a collaborative journey between SRHU and the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, aimed at jointly conducting research, workshops, training, and academic programs focusing on themes such as water, environment, public administration, and governance.
