Three BCA students from the Himalayan School of Science & Technology—Hridayesh Srivastava, Vaibhav Uniyal, and Rachit—represented SRHU at Technex’25, the prestigious annual techno-management festival of IIT (BHU), Varanasi, held from 28th February to 2nd March 2025.
The trio participated in a 36-hour national-level hackathon, “Hack it Out,” which challenged participants to solve real-world problems using technology. They selected a problem statement issued by NTPC, centered on improving the accuracy of renewable energy generation forecasting.
Rising to the challenge, the team conceptualized and developed Energy Forecast AI, a forecasting system designed to accurately predict solar and wind energy outputs. Their solution integrated historical weather trends with live meteorological data, creating real-time, location-specific forecasts. The project not only demonstrated technical proficiency but also addressed a critical issue in clean energy management.
Throughout the hackathon, students experienced intense rounds of coding, debugging, and model refinement, while applying AI tools to renewable energy datasets. The event provided a dynamic learning environment, encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and real-time problem solving.
In addition to technical achievements, the students gained valuable experience in teamwork, time management, and networking. They interacted with peers and mentors from across India, gaining exposure to diverse perspectives and innovations.
Their participation highlighted SRHU’s commitment to fostering innovation, encouraging students to take their learning beyond the classroom and into real-world application. The Energy Forecast AI solution received positive feedback for its relevance and scalability in addressing India’s sustainable energy goals.
By competing on such a national platform, the students not only showcased their skills but also reinforced SRHU’s growing presence in the national academic and innovation ecosystem.
