SRHU Takes Strides in Energy Conservation with New 1000 kW Solar Plant
Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) continues to lead by example in energy conservation, with the recent installation of a 1000 kW rooftop solar plant. Inaugurated by Chairman Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, this raises the university’s solar capacity to 2500 kW, reinforcing SRHU’s commitment to sustainable energy practices.
Dr. Dhasmana emphasized the growing need for solar energy as a clean, reliable power source, noting that the university’s efforts since 2007 have already saved 82,19,330 kW of electricity and reduced carbon emissions by 5660 tons. With solar power meeting 16% of the campus’ energy needs, SRHU sets a benchmark for large institutions.
This innovative approach extends beyond the campus, supplying water to remote villages like Churedhar through solar-powered pumps, demonstrating SRHU’s impact on the broader community. For these initiatives, SRHU was awarded the ‘Gold Award’ in the CII's Green Practices, marking a milestone in its journey toward environmental stewardship.
