Department of Ophthalmology has comprehensive facilities under one roof, providing both Out Patient and Inpatient services. The department runs speciality Outpatient clinics such as, General Ophthalmology, Vitreo-Retina, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Cornea Clinic, Eye Banking and Oculoplasty by specialist surgeons trained at reputed institutions. We are the only eye bank of Uttarakhand providing corneal transplant services.
The Vitreo-Retina Service is well-equipped to handle all categories of medical and surgical conditions of the Retina and Vitreous. These services are provided by Fundus Fluorescein Angiography using Zeiss Digital Fundus camera, Fourier Domain OCT etc. Pediatric Ophthalmology provides treatment for Cataract, Glaucoma, Squint and Amblyopia for children. For Glaucoma patients, the department is well-equipped with Humphrey's automated perimeter, Pachymeter (both contact and noncontact), Nd:yag Laser and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Oculoplastic Service for Ptosis, Lid tumors, Artificial Prosthesis, Endoscopic and external DCR for Dacrocystitis are available. Department of Ophthalmology provides treatment of cataract by advanced cataract surgery.
We have full-time experienced faculty members for teaching undergraduate & postgraduate students. We run a Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom.) program for training of optometrist technician, too.
The department has well-trained and experienced faculty. Most of them have more than 10-15 years teaching experience, under whose guidance, post graduates students learn all the sub-specialities of Ophthalmology. Students are involved in teaching through case presentation, seminars & journal presentation.
We possess a rich library having large number of books and journal for students.
